Founded in 2021 by curator Boyana Dzhikova together with artists Aaron Roth and Vikenti Komitski, Punta occupies a particular niche within the gallery scene of Sofia, operating as the project-based extension of its sister space POSTA, originally launched during the pandemic as a street-facing vitrine on Dondukov Boulevard. The gallery's identity is shaped by a commitment to installative and deconstructed work — pieces that resist the wall, test the limits of the aesthetic, and frequently take the form of site-specific commissions produced in response to the architecture of the space itself. Its program has gravitated toward post-internet aesthetics, the reuse of recycled images and materials, and engagements with climate and social precarity, while sustaining an editorial dialogue with POSTA whereby exhibitions often unfold across both venues simultaneously.

Now situated near the Women's Market in the city centre, the space has become a reference point for experimental practice within contemporary art in Sofia, balancing the visibility of established Bulgarian voices such as Ivan Moudov and Vikenti Komitski with younger figures including Tsvetomira Borisova, Valko Chobanov, Martin Penev and Todor Rabadzhiyski. Since 2023, a mentorship programme has formalised the commitment to debuting artists, complementing collaborations with foreign practitioners such as Brad Downey. Beyond Sofia, the program extends through participation in Art-o-rama in Marseille, a recurring partnership with Cable Depot in London, an upcoming collaboration with the Paris-based Spiaggia Libera, and pop-up presentations during Berlin Art Week, positioning the space as an active interlocutor between Bulgaria and a wider European network.
