Suprainfinit Gallery in Bucharest

Editorial Profile
SUPRAINFINIT is a Bucharest gallery with a program anchored in conceptual art practices from Eastern and Central Europe, while remaining open to artists from wider international contexts. Its position within contemporary art in Bucharest is defined by a balance between emerging, mid-career, and established artists, with exhibitions that often move beyond conventional object display toward installation, research, performance, and materially experimental formats. Founded by Suzana Vasilescu and artistically directed by Cristina Vasilescu, the gallery takes its name from the speculative universe imagined by the collective Apparatus 22, a reference that also signals its interest in world-building, critical imagination, and expanded artistic language.
Its program includes Romanian and international artists such as Sorin Neamțu, Victoria Zidaru, Daria Koltsova, Paulo Wirz, Indrikis Gelzis, Øleg&Kaśka, and Apparatus 22, with recent exhibitions and presentations suggesting a sustained attention to commissioned works, large-scale installations, and cross-disciplinary practices. Through formats such as SEQUENCE, a vitrine-based project accessible from the street, the gallery extends its curatorial activity beyond the main exhibition space and into a more public-facing register. Within galleries in Bucharest, it occupies an important position for connecting the city’s post-socialist and experimental art scene with broader Eastern European and international networks. Its participation in fairs such as Liste Basel further situates the gallery within a transnational circuit for younger and research-driven contemporary practices.
